Update! Zombie Cowboys...

Breaking news! Zombie Cowboys post has been updated with NEW, RELEVANT media!!

Enjoy.

Left 4 Dead Web Comic

I ran over this little gem today while scrolling the internets. If you don't know about Left 4 Dead, you're missing out on one of the greatest contributions to gaming and the Zombie genre. Left 4 Dead is a first person shooter that pits four surviors in a "movie", attempting to escape the zombie apocalypse. Some of my favorite gaming moments have been playing this with my friends, frantically yelling "Don't leave me!" as we race for the chopper. Good times.

Fortunately for us, Valve has created a Left 4 Dead web comic that is pretty entertaining! The story details a little bit about the origins of our beloved zombie survivors from the first game. Parts 1-3 are up with Part 4 to follow. Check it out for yourself!

Google Street: Antarctica

Google today revealed their latest available streetview location: Antarctica! I'm still trying to figure out where to drop the little streetview guy (either that or my browser is acting up). But I've seen a few pictures, so it must work!! Go check it out for yourself!

Hopefully, Antarctica is full of these kinds of jokers:

Horror Classics

Today while driving to work, I was listening to a morning radio show that had two guests who represent some iconic characters in horror film history. You might not know Cassandra Peterson and Linda Blair, but they play the roles of 80s and 70s icons Elvira and Regan (The Exorcist Girl).

They both talked about two upcoming events that you should definitely put on your radar!

TONIGHT! In theatres across America, there is a special screening of The Exorcist with extended scenes. If you have never seen or heard of the Exorcist, something is wrong with you. Definitely go check this one out. Check your local listings! I never even heard of this screening until today, so hurry and run before it sells out!!

I found this article detailing the showing, check it out

80s Sex symbol and horror film diva Elvira makes her triumphant return to television this weekend. Elvira's Movie Macabre show cases some of the best and worst horror films. If you're stuck at home (and we all know how crappy tv is), might as well check this out! Again, this is the first I heard of her return to this show, and I'm not sure if it kicks off this weekend or started last weekend. But the first film was listed as Night of the Living Dead! Check your local listings. Enjoy!!

A little Night of the Living Dead to indulge you:

Zombie Cowboys (UPDATE)

Today on Kotaku, I just got the tip off that our beloved western outlaw mercenary John Marston from Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption will be starring in the latest downloadable content entitled Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare.

Just in time for halloween! No word on the storyline, but check out Kotaku for more of the scoop.

Zombies? Definitely downloading this!!

Indigéne has finally hit 100 followers! Thanks everyone for your support! Look forward to more great posts. Thanks everyone!

Enjoy one of my favorite scenes from one of the best zombies movies of all time...

Dead Snow

My Zombie Haiku post reminded me of something else! The winter Nazi Zombie flick Dead Snow.

When a group of med students vacation in the mountains of Norway, they get more than they bargained for! That's right, they get NAZI ZOMBIES.

Haha, it's not the best of zombies films but still worth checking out. There are a few laughs to be had at this movie's expense.

Zombie Haiku

My buddy over at Writing for Fun wrote this wonderful haiku today. I asked if it was okay to post, and wanted to share it with you:

Haiku
Zombies attack now
Throw snowballs to defend us
Survival rate, low.

Go check out Writing for Fun, there are some good posts to be found from an aspiring writer!

Zombies? FAN-tastic!

I was reminded today of some of the light at the end of the tunnel, once all this LSAT studying is through. A few days ago, Capcom released the highly anticipated sequels to one of the largest cult classic zombie games ever: Dead Rising.

Dead Rising was one of my first Xbox 360 purchases! I remember my friends and I were on this whole zombie trip (and still are), and I was searching, searching for something to satisfy this undead hunger. Through random google searches I came across this game (this was well before the glory days of Left 4 Dead)! Not a lot of hype, but I thought what the heck and ordered it for cheap online. It soon became one of the best purchases I ever made! Nothing beats playing as photographer Frank West stuck in a mall full of Zombies where every store item could be used as a weapon. It wasn't perfect by any means, but it was still fun. And thats all that matters!

Now Dead Rising 2 threatens to destroy all productivity I have. I must wait... just... a little..... longer......

Don't go into the water...

Figure 9.12 Location of dumped munitions and reported encounters between 1999 and 2008.

Since we're on the subject of world wars, OSPAR (the Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the North-East Atlantic) released an interesting report detailing the tons of unexploded munitions, bombs, torpedos, and mines leftover from WWII.
"As recently as 2005, three fishermen were killed in the southern North Sea when a Second World War bomb exploded on their fishing vessel after having been caught in their nets. There are also concerns over the many chemicals used in the munitions, which may be released as the munitions degrade with the possibility of risks for the marine food chain."
Pretty crazy! I'll have to remember this the next time on holiday...

You can find the report here.

Wunderbar!

The armistice between the Allies and Germany was signed in a railway carriage in Compiègne Forest on 11 November 1918

92 years after the official end of World War I, Germany today finally has paid all $84 million in reparations required at the signing of the Treaty of Versailles.

Just thought you should know that at least one war has officially ended.

Zombie Outbreak Simulator

I just wanted to share with you guys a little internet gem that keeps me occupied when I'm bored. And besides who DOESN'T want to play a Zombie Outbreak Simulator?

The guys over at Binary Space created a pretty neat flash game that I'm suprised no one has created yet. Using google maps, they created Class 3 Outbreak. A nifty little game C3O places you in charge of small sqauds of police as they move around on a google map with hordes of incoming zombies. However, its not just zombies running around on top of a jpeg, they mapped the objects so zombies have to react to them. Its a top down game but rather entertaining! See how long you can make the cops hold out, check out their website

Moon

Backtracking a bit in the movie department, I wanted to highlight this film that I HAVE to Netflix again. It was that damn good.

Moon starring Sam Rockwell is a pretty entertaining minimalist sci-fi film. I really don't want to give too much away, and will let the trailer speak for itself.

But trust me, its really good! Enough that I'm planning on renting it again. And Kevin Spacey is just the cherry on top!

Elvis' Kryptonite...

...along with drugs, alcohol, and women. But who's counting?!

On NPR today, they decided to give the Elvis Sandwich a try. Apparently the great King couldn't help but scarf down a fried peanut butter and banana sandwich. Doesn't sound too bad in my opinion!

Some scholars speculate that he may have added bacon to the lethal combination. Apparrently, that was the kicker for most NPR taste testers. Check out their reactions, they're pretty funny.

The Elvis sandwich, open-faced.

Speaking of Aliens....

There seems to be a lot of alien content in the media and entertainment right now, but I wanted to turn your attention to a movie that I thought looked pretty promising!

Monsters is about the current status of the United States and Mexico efforts at dealing with an alien infestation six years prior. The story follows the experiences of an American journalist and tourist caught in the quarintine zone.

The trailer doesn't look half bad! If you get a chance to see this on the big screen at select openings, I'd say go for it! You also are able to download the film On Demand, and through iTunes. I'm planning on downloading the itunes version when I have time in the coming days, but nothing would beat seeing this on the big screen.

Check it out for yourself at their website!

Military UFO Incident Testimony in D.C. Today

Adding on to this morning's post about the new UN Alien Ambassador, there was testimony today at the Washington D.C. National Press Club (a highly prestigious press facility) about UFO encounters at military bases.

Retired 1st Lt. Robert Salas talks about an incident that occurred while stationed at an air force base in Montana. As a nuclear missile launch officer, Salas was on duty in an underground silo that had security above ground. One evening an incident occurred where security topside frantically reported seeing pulsating objects hovering above their gates. Missles began to be disabled as the object remained above their facility.

Pretty Crazy Stuff! Is there a connection to the UN appointment? Or EVEN MORE CREEPY: is it tied to "The Event" revelation that the show deals with aliens. Oops, guess I should've warned spoilers ahead....

Check it out! i09 has more of the scoop and more vids.

A Zombie named Colin...

I'm going to see this movie this weekend at an indie movie theater. Should be good times!
Apparently, they shot the entire movie on a budget of around $75 dollars, so I hope it's not too crappy. But I can't ever pass up a zombie movie! The entire movie is supposed to follow the experiences of just one zombie, sort of a twist that 28 Weeks later touched upon but didn't follow through on in their film.
Check out the trailer for yourself!!

UN appoints Alien Ambassador

No this is not from the Onion.

Appartently, Mazlan Othman who is the head of the UN Office for Outer Space Affairs will be the official "Take Me to your Leader" delegate. Pretty crazy!

I wonder what kind of contingency plan you create for such a thing. How do you even prepare? Or even more scary, are they getting ready for something we don't know? Yikes!!

Check it!

Traveling to NYC? Pod hotel it!

On some recent trips to NYC, some friends and I tried staying in a podhotel to save some bucks!

Besides the fact that my wingspan was about the width of the room, it wasn't too bad! Think of it, like going camping. It gets the job done to say the least. If you plan on spending zero time in your hotel and more time out and about, definitely check this out!
